Blair Moon: How to be Cooler Than the Moon
Blair Moon’s blissful life in the nursing home is turned upside down when her mother enrols her at the local primary school. Blair isn’t too keen on trading bingo and bridge for handball, however, and soon sets her sights on becoming class president. President of the entire world will have to wait!
There is an important message for any reader about not taking your friends for granted. The story also touches on ambition and determination. Blair Moon never gives up, but she does learn to listen and appreciate her friends more.
This is a coming-of-age story for kids that aren’t even near ‘that age’ yet in that it articulates the vagaries of fitting in, beginning something different for the first time, and the complexities (and absurdities) of primary school relationships in a refreshing and frequently laugh-out-loud light.
