Confetti and the Rainbow Garden

Shane Jenek

Confetti and the Rainbow Garden is a story about curiosity and creativity, family and identity, and the wonders of the natural world.

With illustrations by award-winning artist Dylan Finney and words by Australia’s favourite drag queen Courtney Act, Confetti and the Rainbow Garden is the perfect book to inspire acceptance and independence in kids aged 3+.

Welcome to Nan’s garden, a wonderland where kangaroo paws play soccer, water lilies dive, and lilly pillies do science experiments. Confetti is on a mission to find out who they’ll grow up to be – a wistful waratah, lorikeet-laden grevillea, or perhaps a frolicking fern?

Join Confetti on an adventure celebrating family and flora, and how life is beautiful when we’re free to be ourselves.

Courtney Act is a drag artist, singer, advocate, author and cultural provocateur. Her debut memoir Caught in the Act was an award-winning bestseller. She first appeared on TV in Australia in 2003 on the first season of Australian Idol; making the Top 3 on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6; and taking the UK by storm after winning Celebrity Big Brother. This was closely followed up by her The Courtney Act Christmas Show on Channel 4 UK and the queer dating show, The Bi Life on E!. Courtney hosted Sydney World Pride in 2023, is currently the co-host of Eurovision, voices Ms Flouncy on popular ABC kids show Reef School and is a regular guest on shows like Play School Story Time.

When Courtney isn’t busy being glamorous on TV and stage, she’s a boy from Brisbane called Shane Jenek. As a genderfluid, queer person, Courtney uses her public profile to educate audiences on issues such as gender identity, sexuality, marriage equality, anti-racism and more. As a singer-songwriter, she has released a pop EP and entertained audiences in her festival stage performances and cabaret shows throughout the world. She currently lives in Sydney.
