Coming September 2024!

Don’t let the ripples chase you down.

Fifteen-year-old Emma is awoken by her dad’s nightmares. Again. On Friday evenings they go running at East Point Reserve to escape. Escape the ripples of grief that still chase them three years after her mother’s death; escape Emma’s autism diagnosis; escape her father’s work as an emergency room doctor. Emma forgets to eat. Again. On weekdays, Emma rides her bike to school, listening to her lifelong best friend Summer lament life with younger siblings. Thursdays after school, she plays tennis. But then Emma meets Elliot while testing for and winning the spot in the sports program Summer desperately wanted. And Summer’s family move from two streets away to the other side of town. Their friendship and the routines that have kept Emma and her father going since her mother’s death splinter. In trying to pick up the pieces, Emma and her father realise too late that they can’t outrun themselves.

White Noise is a bright and contemporary young adult novel exploring grief, friendship and identity set in Darwin, Northern Territory.
